No school today due to Buddhist holiday. Lots of activity around the area.

As time grows short we continue to wrap up things here. One nice thing about have our own house here is I can leave a lot my things here and I will not have to bring as much next time. Makes it easier to pack both this time and for our next trip back.

Phai and her daughter in law made some desserts today out of sliced bananas and rice wrapped in banana leaves and it will be cooked on the barbecue this evening. Then you eat the delicious treat right out of the banana leaf. I am looking forward to that. It is son in laws birthday today and right now there are a lot of his friends over drinking beer and whiskey and having great discussions. I sure wish I could join them but my Thai is not even close to good enough to participate. So instead I am in the bedroom communicating with you. A quick update. I did go out and join them and Phai helped interpret so I could join in a little bit. When Thai’s party things get loud. As I was sitting there the truck went by with the big pig in the trailer. I asked Phai why he goes by everyday and she said that is a prize pig and all the other farmers pay to have him mate with their pigs. I said “no wonder he looks like he is smiling”. She told the group in Thai what I had said and they really had a good laugh.

I continue to post some videos to my Facebook timeline that are not on Youtube. If you would like to view them you should be able to go to my Facebook page via this link. All the videos and photos are public so you do need a Facebook account to view them. Link to my Facebook HERE. I just received word from my sister that the link doesn’t connect you to my Facebook. It works for me but perhaps because it is my Facebook account. You can try searching for me on Facebook with my Facebook ID bud.smith.35 or my email budsmith1@me.com.

Heavy rain today slowed down the progress on the new house across the street but it is coming along as you will see in the photos below. I was hoping they would be farther along before we left but the weather has not been cooperating with the construction efforts.

Phai and Moht (Mobuy’s mother) work on dessert for tonight. Bananas and rice wrapped in banana leaves and cooked on the barbecue.

My little friend peeks past her little brother to see what I am doing. She was helping swing him in his hammock.

Mobuy is really a happy baby. I almost never see her cry. My sister will be glad to see the mittens are off and she really does have fingers.

While I was typing this I heard a strange sound. I looked and Phai’s ducks were tapping on the doorway with their beaks.

You can see it will be a steep and tall roof on the new house across the street. They are working as the sun is setting.

They have almost finished with all the steel roof braces. They are up there in their flip flops.

Behind the mask is my Phai’s oldest son. He is using an arc welder to cut the steel to the right length and then weld it in place.
