In Bangkok but not happy.

We had a nice evening and morning in Udon Thani and caught our plane at noon for Bangkok. Fa Sai was really loving her first flight and enjoyed taking pictures out the window with the iPad. Then we caught some turbulence during our decent for landing (I am an experience flyer and it even bothered me) and she quickly found out why the have the have the white bags in the seat back pockets. Got to the hotel and we were not happy with the accommodations. We stayed here 5 years ago but it has gone downhill. For 3 people in the room (we paid a premium for a third person) there is only one hard wood chair to sit on, there was someones unfinished beverage in the fridge and only two towels and no hand towels. Oh yea, and only 1/2 roll of toilet paper. Add to that the Internet (fee wifi in room) was a disaster. Terribly slow and dropping the connection. It is a little better tonight so maybe this update will take place. I tried researching hotels via "Agoda" who I always book through but terrible internet made it all but impossible. I had paid in advance for 8 nights (common practice in Thailand) so I finally called Agoda. They were great and negotiated with the hotel to refund all but one night and have already processed the refund. We walked up the street and checked another hotel this evening. It is nicer, cleaner, quieter and is just a block away from this one but is a smaller room. We will probably have an early breakfast tomorrow and look around at other hotels so we can check out by noon and know where we are going. Even if I have to pay more it is still way below what I would pay in the States.

Needless to say, I do not have any photos for you today. Had hoped to go to the worlds biggest market (8,000+ booths) early tomorrow but we may have to wait until next Saturday. It is only open on Saturdays and Sundays. There are lots of other things to do. We didn't realize it until I read it on the plane that Monday is a national holiday and most businesses will be closed. Not sure what that means for shopping or tourist attractions.
