My first computer class conducted in Thailand.

Our friend the pig farmer wants to be able to communicate with me when I go back to America. His son bought him a new PC a month ago and I told him to bring it over and I will set him up with Gmail and Skype. I didn't think about the fact it would be a Windows system. I haven't touched Windows in eight years now and for those who know me I am what is called an Apple Fan Boy. I managed to maneuver enough to get his  system set up with the wifi at the restaurant, create a gmail account and Skype account for him and show him how to use both. It was painful working with Windows but I survived. I told him to come back Friday evening to go through it again to make sure he is comfortable with everything. I gave him a tour of the house and he really liked it. He said the same thing we always hear, "I have never seen a floor like that before in thailand. It looks like wood"

When I showed him my iPad he was amazed and sorry he bought a PC. He said he will probably have me buy him an iPad to bring to Thailand on our next trip.  It was good because he got see how I teach and he and I had already discussed starting a private school here in the village when I move here permanently. I would teach both English and Computer skills to the the kids and some adults may also be interested. He is a really nice guy. He has worked in a number of other countries and speaks and reads English very well. He owns multiple farms here and will sell some of them and invest in the school which will also have a resort on the grounds. Resort here is more like Motel in the states. It usually consists of separate air conditioned cabins, a swimming pool and his plans include a nice garden setting with ponds. This would be on the property right next to our old house and an easy walk to work for me. I may even decide to take a job with the school here teaching english and work with him part time. The schools in Thailand are hungry for good native English speakers to teach in their schools. The pay is very good compared to what a Thai makes and would certainly be a nice fallback if in fact the Social Security funds in the U.S. dry up. Always good to have contingency plans in place.

We also ordered all the necessary materials to build the bathroom for the restaurant and our son in law is working on it today. Right now it is thundering like crazy but he will keep working right up until the rain comes.

My first student. His name is Preechap Prachannual. He was a childhood friend of Phai. He is two years older than Phai but his sister is the same age as Phai.

Phai decided this morning to build the outhouse for the restaurant before we leave. By this afternoon the materials had been delivered and the work started. Amazing Thailand.
