The company showed up a day early to install the back room ceiling.

I am still amazed at how fast things can get done here. We contracted for the drop ceiling in the rest of the house yesterday. They said they would start on Monday but Instead showed up this morning (Sunday). They got the entire back framed in and started to put the ceiling tiles in place and discovered they weren't all matching. Some had a very subtle nice pattern in the white tiles and others had a very visible flower pattern. The guys called the owner and he wanted us to accept the flower tiles but we refused so they will have to come back to finish the job. The two workers told Phai later that he was using tiles he had left over from other jobs which is why they didn't match. So his profit on this job will not be as high as he thought because he will have to buy matching tiles. The two guys doing the install did a nice job of moving the wiring for the shower heater so we bought them a $2 small bottle of Thai whiskey before they left and some snacks and they were happy.

When they first got here and showed us the nice tiles, Phai and Ning said they didn't like the white color and Phai asked me what I thought about pink tiles. I gagged and said no way. Then I asked Ning if she preferred white or pink (I know enough Thai that she and Phai both wanted pink) and she said "Daddy happy, Ning Happy". So we will have a white ceiling. I really cannot imagine a pink ceiling but Thais definitely have different preferences in colors than I do .

I spent the day catching up on some tv shows on my iPad. I love the program Rookie Blue on ABC. You normally cannot watch the shows in that app outside the country but I log in through a proxy server in the United States so they don't know I am out of the country. Our Thai TV subscription cannot be viewed here in Thailand so we log in through the U.S. servers to watch the Thai equivalent of Netflix but it is better because it has all the TV and news shows on demand. While I cannot watch ABC out of the country I can watch NBC with no problem.

Raining all afternoon today so it sure is nice not to have to walk through the muddy lot to our old house to go to the bathroom. It is very cool and comfortable today and I laid on the bed and took a 45 minute nap. It Sure felt good.

My daughter in law Ning is so happy. I showed her how she can play music from her iPad over a speaker I set up in the back of the restaurant wirelessly. It is built into the Apple Airport Express router I set up and works great. She had nice Thai music playing most of the day and I think her customers like it also. I told her that on our next shopping trip I will buy her a set of stereo speakers which will sound much better than the little portable battery powered speaker I brought with me. She is very good with Technology. I only had to show her once what to do and she got it.

Yesterday Phai asked me to go with her to meet an old friend that is in town. We walked over to his house and it turns out he is working in Algeria for five years. He spoke fairly good English and was really a nice guy. His wife was there also with her mother. The wife was sitting on a short stool and her mother was behind her with a comb and tweezers. She was parting her hair in sections and then grabbing near her scalp with the tweezers. I thought they were going after bugs like happens here with the young kids. After awhile the mother and daughter switched places. I joked and said "I'm next". They laughed and said I wouldn't have any hair left. That is when I realized they weren't looking for bugs, they were pulling out gray hairs. They had a small poodle dog as a pet and it was the first time I have seen a dog chase the chickens. He would sit on the bamboo platform with us and wait for the chickens to get close and then go after them. He never caught any and on one occasion it was a hen with a brood of very small chicks. Well, when he went after the chicks the hen went after him and he retreated back to our platform very quickly.

Putting up the track work for the ceiling tiles in our bathroom. I had to lower the "rain" shower head but luckily I can still stand upright under it with a few inches to spare.

They had enough of the tiles we like to finish about ⅓ of the utility room. Looking forward to having it finished tomorrow.

Thais have a great sense of humor. This is one of my favorite photos. Wish I had taken it.
