We purchased our roofing materials today.

After visiting 3 more building supply shops today and striking out on the color I wanted for the roof I finally gave in and will go with my second choice. It is a lighter shade of blue than I wanted but should look good. Also it appears Phai and I have found a ceramic tile pattern for the floor we both like. It is a pattern that looks like a wood floor but with all the durability and ease of installation of ceramic. The roofing material will be delivered tomorrow. We ended up ordering from the first place we went which is only about 5 miles away. One thing I found interesting is that in every single building supply shop we went to we were waited on by women. In a business that seems to be dominated by men in the U.S. women play a major role here in Thailand. When women are suppressed in so many countries, it is the opposite here. Women work at all levels of private enterprise and government and the Prime Minister (equivalent of our President) is a woman.

While we were in Nong Bua Lamphu it was raining so I figured that our house construction had ceased but in fact it did not rain in Nong Dan and they got a lot more cinder block put up. It was overcast and cool again so the work was much easier than it would have been just a few weeks ago.

The big news is that we stopped (at my insistence) at the construction site for the new store that is equivalent to a Home Depot or Lowe's and found out they will open for business in 15 days on June 28th. I am really excited about it and the fact that their is a lot of growth in this area giving us more shopping choices but it still  remains a "quiet" farm community in our village is a real plus.

Our bedroom walls get higher and you can see where the window will go.

You are looking from about the middle of the living room to the back wall. A window is on the right and on the back to the left will be a door to the the "utility" room and the door to the bathroom further to the left.

I grabbed a quick shot of the garbage pick up. As they dump the garbage into the truck they pick up any plastic bottle or tin cans they spot and put them in those bags. So garbage pick up and recycling is all done at the same time by them, not us.
